New Cookware

When my dear hubby and I married we were given a cookware set. It has served its duty but it is time for us to move on. We are in desperate need of a good set of cookware. Does anyone have a set that they love? I have one friend who is a great cook and she uses the Mauviel Copper set. Another friend thinks that Calphalon non-stick is the best. And I think that my brother has the Calphalon Contemporary set and I know that his wife loves it. So please, I need some help.

Why do you need a set? I would imagine that you have done enough cooking to know what things you like and what you don't. So sit down and make a list of the items that you like - skillets, pots, pans, dutch ovens, etc. Then determine what material works best for each -- non stick skillet for eggs, stainless steel pots, stainless steel and cast iron dutch oven, copper sauce pan and so on. Then go find the best of each one of those. If you shop on line you will find an excellent selection of products at good price (check us out for starters). In the long run you will be much happier with this process than buying a set .

Hey Chesnye
I am looking at the All Clad master chef 2 set. It is all stainless steel and I think a 7 piece set is in the $300 to $400 range. I am moving away from non-stick as much as possible for safety reasons. The salesperson at Dillards told me the All Clad steel is thicker than the caphalon sets. Hope this is helpful. I am waiting to purchase until Christmas when hopefully the have some sales. I hope to supplement this set with other pieces down the road.
HTH, Tracey
I would love to see you at Christmas time!

All Clad. I don't know exactly which set I have, I just know it has the copper bottom and is stainless steel. My sister in law bought them for me for Christams and I love them!
By the way...Could you resend your mailing address? I have your cards sitting here and have tried to retrieve my info from my old computer but have had no luck! :)
