Dining Room Question

Ok Ladies, I need a little input on our Dining Room situation in our home that we are building. I am considering a round dining room table. My hubby is not sold on the idea but I really think that it will give us more floor space in that room. The architect agreed with me, but now I'm starting to second guess myself. What do you think? Is it going to be too trendy? I do think it would be great for the conversation flow. Can't wait to get some input from other women.

I LOVE the look of a round dining room table but I find they are not cozy for conversation. You cannot really talk across them. Whenever I am at a dinner party at a big (8-12) person round table I feel the coversayion is more segmented. I am stuck to my adjacent dinner partners for conversation and if they both turn the other way...I am left out. With an oval or rectangular, you can also speak to the person across from you without shouting. Just my 2 cents.

Like I said, they do fit certain spaces and they are beautiful. I opted for a narrow rectangular table that has leaves. It is a reproduction made from antique English pieces. I love it and it is great for conversation. Also, if you plan to have small dinners (4-6) I think round is okay.

Let us know what you decied...I know it will be beautiful ether way.

If the room is not huge, I'd go with round! :)

A round table is the easiest conversation table. So much easier than talking *down* the table. Can't wait to see it!
