Our Little Men

Last Sunday was a big day for my oldest and his classmates. We celebrated his First Communion. It was such a special time for our family and friends. I remember at my first MOPS conference realizing the impact my mothering would have on my sons spiritual journey. How awesome, but how humbling is that! One of the speakers was discussing how important the role of a Godly Man is, and that begins with his parents. In fact, our influence and guidance will have a direct impact on our grandchildren too. My prayer is that my sweet hubby and I will give each our children a true spiritual foundation.

Wordless Wednesday

Baseball Tournaments 2009

Clark played his last baseball game of the season and we were off for 2 weeks of family fun! Will Henry enjoyed the season, but he really loved the cupcakes for one of Clark's teammate's birthday. Poor Daddy, the other two always want to be right in the middle of the game so each inning they were waiting for him in the dugout or on the side. We had such a fun season!!!

Christmas Choir Concert

This was our serious picture before the concert. I love the way that Clark put his arm around his sister without being asked. He really loves both of his siblings so much... and they also adore him.

Today Clark and BellaRuth were in our town's Christmas Choir Concert. They have been practicing for the past month and they really did a wonderful job. Will Henry kept hollering "Clark......Bella Ruth", but it actually sounds like "clerk.... bubber" Too cute. We are all so proud of both of you!!

A Godly Man

Tonight I took Clark and Bella Ruth to a birthday party about 30 minutes from home. Chris was home with Will Henry so we got to listen to loud music, eat at Panera Bread, shop at Barnes and Noble and have lots of good conversation. As we were driving home I couldn't help but think of something that had changed my view of motherhood about 5 years ago. At one of my first MOPS conventions we were listening to a speaker and she was talking about the true importance of raising a son. You see, your son will grow to be a father one day, he will be the head of a household and he will be the leader of the family. Your most important job as a mother of a son is to raise him to be a Godly man. Even your daughter will marry one day and her husband will be the head of the household. I remember almost feeling overwhelmed. How was I going to do this? I started praying right then for God to help me and show me the way. My sweet husband and I have talked about this often. Tonight, as I was driving home in the rain and my sweet seven year old first-born son was singing his heart out to Steven Curtis Chapman's "We are children of God" I couldn't help but shed a few tears and give my thanks to God for answering my prayers.
